Paramount Pictures' next Star Trek feature film is set to enter production before the year is out, with the studio officially planning to reunite the Enterprise crew featured in 2009's Star Trek, 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness and 2016's Star Trek Beyond.
As part of today's Viacom Investor Event, Paramount exec Brian Robbins and Star Trek producer J.J. Abrams confirmed that Paramount's next Trek movie is currently targeting a late-2022 production start. Additionally, the studio has entered talks with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho and Simon Pegg to reprise their respective roles of James T. Kirk, Spock, Nyota Uhura, Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy, Hikaru Sulu and Montgomery "Scotty" Scott.
The next Star Trek movie is set to be directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on Marvel Studios' Disney+ series WandaVision, with the aforementioned Abrams producing. Abrams previously produced and directed Star Trek '09 and Into Darkness, before returning to produce the Justin Lin-directed Beyond.
